Kari's webradio show.
Parents of kids
in the 10-12 year age range know the signs all too well:
rolling eyes, turned backs and slammed doors. What happened
to the sweet, loving children who couldn’t wait to share
their latest accomplishments? Before the bond is seriously
damaged, parents can make simple changes in the way they
relate to their children to keep the lines of communication
open. Gayla shares her approach to strengthening the parent-child
connection. Join us to find out how to take the Doodle
DYEnamics Pledge and build a bond of trust with your child.

Do
you have kids in your house?
Does
your family work together like a TEAM?
Do
you have meaningful conversations with each other at least
once a week?
The
goal of Doodle DYEnamics is to create a TEAM feeling among
your family members. Teams support each other while they
work towards a common goal. The parents are the team’s
coaches. The children are the players. The only way to
win the game is for everyone to work together.
It
is incredibly important to get kids talking while they
are young, and keep them talking all the way through their
teenage years.
. In
order to help you do that, we have created a fun downloadable
"Doodle Dynamics Family Communication Day" kit.
IT's
FREE! All you have to do is sign in at the right and you
will have access immediately.

This
kit is fun and beneficial for families with kids of any
age, but it's perfect for families with kids 5 to 12 years
old. We've even seen 82-year-olds enjoy it. And almost
everyone glowed with self-esteem when they shared their
doodles!
The
world needs "Terrific Teens"!
| |
Have
you experienced or heard about the
"Terrible Teens" ? |
If
you've ever had a teenager in your home, you may
have already experienced the "Teen Shut-Out".
This
is when they shut you out and become monosyllabic,
making two-way conversation almost impossible.
|
|
We
have created Doodle DYEnamics Family Communication Day
to encourage parents and their children to schedule at
least one day per week to sit down together for a fun
and informative 30 minute conversation.

today by taking the pledge.

If
you can get your kids talking on a core level at an early
age, and carry it through into their teenage years, you
have a better chance of heading off "Teen Shut-Out"
and many other teen-related problems.

Get
your kids talking while they are still young, and you'll
find it easier to keep them talking all the way through
their teenage years and on into adulthood. In order to
help you do that, we have created the fun Downloadable
"Doodle Dynamics Day" pledge kit.
The
family unit should work as a team with the parents being
the coaches. To create a successful team you need communication.
Your children need your support and backing while at the
same time they need your unwavering guidance. Doodle DYEnamics
can help.
When
you take part the benefits to you and your family are
numerous:
•
You learn things about each
other you didn't know.
• It will be easier
to approach a difficult subject in the future.
• You will create
a team atmosphere that brings your family closer.
• When one of your
children has a question, they will be more likely
...to ask you, their
coach, instead of a school friend.
• Your children will
be stronger when it comes to peer-pressure. ...Making
them less likely to join a gang or hang out with
kids you ...don't
approve of.
• Your children will
be more likely to be the leaders not the followers.
• When the teen years
arrive, your children will be more prepared to
...make the right
decisions.
• You as parents will
be able to sleep better knowing you have helped
...prepare your children
to make the right decisions.
• The whole family
will learn communication skills and become more
...out going and
self-confident.
• And last but not
least, you are helping to prepare you children
to be ...more successful
as adults.

Children
from families that have a history of carrying on positive,
meaningful, and supportive conversations have a better
chance to become self-assured, self-confident, and successful
in their adult life. The parents in these families have
a much better chance of sailing through and enjoying the
teen years with their children.
Our
goal is to give parents and their children fun tools that
they can use to open and carry on meaningful conversations
with one another;
conversations that go beyond "How was your day?"
or "Did you do your homework?"
| "Doodle
DYEnamics Family Communication Day" takes place
each and every Sunday. If Sunday doesn't work for
you, pick another day. All it requires is for families
to sit down together and have a deep and meaningful
conversation for a minimum of 30 minutes. That's 30
minutes out of each 10,080 minutes per week. |

Some Thoughts on Family Cohesion, Communication,
and Values
by
Joel Johnson, M.A.Ed (Ph.D. – A.B.D.)
Two of the most vital parenting skills are being a good
listener, and learning to wear our values, not just talk
about them. Values are harder to argue with than opinions.
As parents, our values are like garments: When we wear
them, they either fit or they don’t. They look good
on us, or they don’t. Worn garments are difficult
to sell, but they’re easy to give away. Sometimes
other people want to wear them, sometimes they don’t.
We can’t hard-sell our values to our children; we
can only wear them and inspire our children to want to
wear them, too. If we don’t practice our values
in our everyday lives, then our values are not values,
at all…they’re merely opinions. When we don’t
live out our values and wear them with style, we often
resort to saying things like “Do as I say, not as
I do.” Unfortunately, our children are likely to
respond with, “Mom and Dad, what you are is so loud,
I can’t hear what you’re saying!”
Doodle DYEnamics will soon offer an array of products
and activities designed to enhance the communication skills
of parents and their children, and to enrich their lives
by bringing creativity into the parenting process. For
example, through our new Doodle DYEnamics Family Communication
Day program, we train parents to interact with their children
in an organized, structured, enhancing, and enriching
activity which facilitates discussion, identifies values,
while at the same time creating a memorable keepsake to
be treasured for years to come.
Quality communication among parents and their children
must be a daily activity. While many families are faithful
to do so, some families find themselves distracted from
that which should be their highest priority: bonding and
growing together. Be the first family on your block to
commit to observing and participating in our Doodle DYEnamics
Day by taking the Pledge. Make that commitment to sit
down with your children for just one half hour each week,
to celebrate the miracle of family, at a special designated
time in which other families across the nation are doing
the same. Imagine how different and more wonderful the
world would be if each and every family cared for each
other in that special way. Remember, true caring is something
we must do, not merely feel.
